Joe Page has been a law enforcement officer for twenty years. He has been a police officer at the Golden Police Department since 2014 where he is currently assigned as the Community Resource Officer.
Officer Page currently serves on the Jefferson County Crisis Intervention Team Steering Committee and is a Course Director, where he helps train law enforcement officers throughout Jefferson County on helping people who have mental illnesses. He is an instructor of youth, adult, and first responder Mental Health First Aid.
Officer Page is a certified Crime Prevention Specialist, Law Enforcement Security Assessment Specialist and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Practitioner. He is also an instructor of “Surviving Verbal Conflict”® which he uses to teach law enforcement officers and public service professionals specific skills to de-escalate problem situations.
Prior to working at the Golden Police Department, he served as a Deputy Sheriff, Corporal, and Sergeant in Central Kansas for over fifteen years. Officer Page has extensive training and experience in both community and problem oriented policing. He is a trained hostage / crisis negotiator. In his previous assignments, Officer Page has specifically worked with special needs, at-risk, and vulnerable populations. He served, as the Chair of the Sedgwick County/Wichita Hoarding Coalition, was an active member in the TRIAD of South Central Kansas, and sat on the Sedgwick County Crisis Intervention Team Council. He has helped train many law enforcement officers in Community Policing, Hate Bias Crimes, CIT, advanced CIT topics, and Mental Health First Aid over the last twenty years.
