Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Professional Designation (CPD)
Ms. Lindsay Smart, AICP, is a Senior Parks/Trails Planner with the Durham Parks and Recreation Department and is primarily responsible for long range master planning, feasibility studies, implementation plans, crime assessments and advancing park and trail projects from the planning phase toward project delivery. She has expertise in park planning and alternative transportation systems and planning and has worked in the non-profit, private, and public sectors in transportation, land use, and water resource planning in NJ, TN, and NC since 2004.Some of her current responsibilities include the management and oversight of funding for deferred maintenance projects for parks and trails, supervising staff, construction feasibility studies for several priority trail corridors, and land planning for park improvement projects.
Ms. Smart has been a presenter at Velo-City Global in Vancouver, Canada, NC AMPO Conferences in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016, NC APA Conferences in 2012, 2013, and 2015, the NC Bike Summit in 2012, and the State of Tennessee 2013 Greenways and Trails Forum. She is a member of the American Planning Association, the Urban Land Institute, and the Association of Professional and Bicycle and Professionals and has achieved the Professional Designation for Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
