I have 34 years of federal and state law enforcement experience, 18 of which were in senior management.  I served for 5 years as a Special Agent with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and 30 years with the United States Marshals Service retiring in 2019 as an Assistant Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal.  I hold a TS/SCI Security Clearance.  I have a wide range of accomplished experience in a variety of law enforcement operations, to include major crimes investigations, narcotics investigations, Special Response Team (SWAT), fugitive investigations, protective operations, physical security, threat and vulnerability assessments, and risk management.

Upon retirement, I created Akers Risk Management, LLC to provide security-related consultations to public and private sector entities conducting security surveys and risk assessments, developing emergency and critical incident plans to include active shooter/active threat events, and to create effective security strategies.  I obtained the CPTED Professional Designation and have incorporated this strategy and its principles when offering guidance to clients for developing plans and crime prevention strategies.  I have provided consultation services to the federal government, national c0mpanies, and private organizations.
